ONEPowerfulMovement Community Development Center

(OPM-CDC) was organized in April 2005 as a community outreach initiative of Bible Way Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Ivory L. Varner, Senior Pastor/Teacher.

The Bible Way Family believes ‘when we become “One” with God, we will have “Power” from the Holy Spirit and experience “Movement” of the Gospel of Jesus Christ’ thusONEPowerfulMovement.
Overview

ONEPowerfulMovement CDC is a federally tax-exempt nonprofit emphasizing the education, empowerment, support and well-being of disenfranchised persons, specifically women and persons with histories of unemployment, incarceration and addictions. The OPM-CDC provides family support, outreach and 12-Step groups for post-incarcerated, probationers and their families; as well as case management and referral services through its FACT Program (Families Acquiring Christian Transformation). OnePowerfulMovement initiated a Community Computer Technology Center (CTC) to provide online learning for GED/Basic Adult Education, and ESL classes, Office Skills Training, Job Readiness/Job Search and Financial Management.

The Community Technology Center began operations in 2001, and in January 2007 restructured services to establish seven workstations to provide community access and supportive services for adults experiencing barriers to employment. OPM-CDC also utilizes the resources of the CTC to provide family education services for family violence prevention through an online education model sponsored by Global Violence Prevention, an educational site designed to teach professionals and students about family violence and prevention.

Volunteer opportunities are available for community members to provide direct service delivery in cohort with program staff through implementation of CTC services. Community Technology Center volunteers are encouraged to provide onsite volunteer hours in the Community Technology Center on evenings and weekends. Community members may also serve as Project Mentors to work with individuals and families impacted by limited social, economic and/or spiritual deficits.
